CBS News Last Updated Nov 14, 2017 7:08 AM EST TAMPA, Fla. – Police here are investigating a deadly shooting early Tuesday morning in the Seminole Heights neighborhood – the same one where three murders were committed last month within days of each other, giving rise to fears of a possible serial killer on the loose, reports CBS Tampa affiliate WTSP-TV. The latest victim was found before 5 a.m., the station says. Investigators are calling it a “suspicious death,” according to a news release from Tampa police. Police say it’s too early to know if the shooting is connected to the October slayings in the Seminole Heights neighborhood, but they’re treating it as if it is, for now at least. The suspect is described as a black male, 6′ to 6′ 2″ tall and has a thin build and a light complexion. He was armed with a large black pistol and was last seen wearing all black clothing. Killing time is between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
Ben Mitchell was killed around 9 p.m. on Oct. 9 near North 15th Street while waiting at a bus stop. Monica Hoffa, apparently, was killed two days later on Oct. 11, she was also shot in the evening, about a half-mile from the first shooting. Her body was not found until Oct. 13. Anthony Naiboa, who had gotten off at the wrong bus stop, was shot on Oct. 19 around 8 p.m. on North 15th Street. The police have released a video of a suspicious person who was wandering the streets on Oct. 9 and have asked residents for help in identifying the person. None of the victims were robbed. All three died of gunshot wounds. Police in Tampa Florida were warning residents in the Tampa neighborhood of Seminole Heights to be on high alert Monday after the shooting deaths of three people with no apparent links to each other.Police think the deaths could be the work of a serial killer, and they’re warning residents not to walk out alone at night. Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan believes the killings are connected based on their close proximity and time frame. Tampa cops are looking for an individual seen in surveillance video strolling through the neighborhood, wearing a hoodie, on the night of the first murder. “We have no leads,” Dugan admitted over the weekend. “We have no motive.”
