SARASOTA SAUDI CONNECTION TO 9/11/2001 HERE’S WHAT I KNOW: Abdulaziz al-Hijji and his wife Anoud left three cars at their luxurious home in a gated community in Sarasota, Florida — one of them new — and flew to Saudi Arabia in August 2001. The refrigerator was full of food; furniture and clothing were left behind; and the swimming pool water was still circulating. Security records of cars passing through a checkpoint at the Prestancia gated community indicated that Mr al-Hijji’s home, 4224 Escondito Circle, had been visited a number of times by Mohamed Atta, the leader of the 19-strong hijack team, who piloted American Airlines Flight 11 into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre in 2001.
The gate logs also indicated that Marwan Al-Shehhi, who crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into the South Tower, and Ziad Jarrah, who was at the controls of United Airlines Flight 93 when it crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, had visited the house. All three men had trained to fly at Venice Airport, which is 13 miles from 4224 Escondito Circle, Sarasota and 9 miles from the rental home of Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi at 516 w. Laurel Rd in Osprey Fl. A Saudi family who “fled” their Sarasota area home weeks before September 11th had “many connections” to “individuals associated with the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001,” according to released FBI records. The information runs counter to previous FBI statements. It also adds to concern raised by official investigations but never fully explored, that the full truth about Saudi Arabia and the 9/11 attacks has not yet been told.
One partially declassified document, marked “secret,” lists three of those individuals and ties them to the Venice, Florida flight school where suicide hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi trained. Accomplice Ziad Jarrah took flying lessons at another school a block away.
Individuals tied to Huffman Flight School and 9/11 Hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi by FBI linked to 4224 Escondito Circle Sarasota as family members appear to be Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji, DOB 12/28/1973, and Adel Ghazzawi son of Esam Ghazzawi. In the year 2000, Sarasota Saudi’s Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji then age 27 and his brother in law Adel Ghazzawi then age 30, were contemporaries of 9/11 Hijack Pilots Ziad Jarrah then age 25, Marwan Al-Shehhi then age 22, and Monamed Atta then age 32 who all appear to have taken Flight Training in Venice Fl at the same time from mid June 2000 up to end of August 2000 when Atta and al-Shehhi moved over to Jones Aviation at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport for 2 months, small world eh?
Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji, DOB 12/28/1973, was issued a Florida drivers license on September 12th, 1995 it expired on his birthday December 28th, 2001. Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji was issued a duplicate Florida drivers license on October 28th 1997, again on February 24th 1998 and again on April 20th 2000, why so many duplicate licenses? Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji married Anoud Essam Ghazzawi on May 12th 1995 in Sarasota Fl most likely at the Islamic Center of Sarasota and Bradenton Mosque 4350 N. Lockwood Ridge Rd Sarasota Fl where Al-Qaeda linked Imam Muneer Arafat shows up in March of 2000. Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji got a $65 parking ticket in Manatee County on Wednesday October 25th 2000 that was not paid until February 14th 2001, he was driving a 1999 tan 4dr Jeep.
Larry Berberich — a man who played a pivotal security role at Sarasota’s Prestancia neighborhood, where the Saudis in question lived at the time — has his own view of what Senator Bob Graham describes as a blanket. “Some of the local law enforcement departments knew a hell of a lot about what was going on and were feeding the FBI that information,” said Berberich, who was then a Prestancia board member nominally in charge of security and an unpaid security consultant to the sheriff at that time, Bill Balkwill. Shortly after local law enforcement entered the vacated home of the Saudis in Prestancia, he said, “everything went black.” Berberich told the Herald-Tribune local law enforcement personnel privy to evidence were muzzled by the FBI who at that time were lead by Sarasota FBI agent Thomas Baugher. Berberich declined to elaborate.
A story published simultaneously by BrowardBulldog and The Miami Herald on September 8, 2011, told how concerned residents in the gated community of Prestancia tipped the FBI after the attacks to the al-Hijjis’ sudden departure in late August 2001. It also reported that a counterterrorism officer and Prestancia’s former administrator, Larry Berberich, said an analysis of gatehouse security records – log books and snapshots of license tags – had determined that vehicles either driven by or carrying several of the future hijackers had visited the al-Hijji home. Phone records revealed similar, though indirect, ties to the hijackers, said the counterterrorism officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
A senior FBI official has told a Fort Lauderdale federal judge that disclosure of certain classified information about Saudis who hurriedly left their Sarasota area home shortly before 9/11 “would reveal current specific targets of the FBI’s national security investigations.” Records Section Chief David M. Hardy’s assertion is contained in a sworn 33-page declaration filed in support of a Justice Department motion that seeks to end a Freedom of Information lawsuit filed last year by BrowardBulldog.org. The government’s latest court filings, thick with veiled references to foreign counterintelligence operations and targets, deepen the mystery about a once-secret FBI investigation of Esam and Deborah Ghazzawi and their tenants, son-in-law and daughter, Abdulaziz and Anoud al-Hijji. The filings by Miami Assistant U.S. Attorney Carole M. Fernandez also seek to justify in the name of national security numerous deletions of information from FBI records about the decade-old investigation that were released recently amid the ongoing litigation.
There is a link between Prince Sultan and the post-9/11 investigation in Sarasota. Esam Ghazzawi was a longtime adviser to Prince Sultan’s father King Fahd, on the day of the 9/11 attacks, Prince Sultan aka Fahad A. A. Al-Zeid was in Sarasota. He received a call from his uncle who told him to make it to Lexington as soon as they could so they could leave the country amid mounting anti-Saudi sentiment. According to a senior counterterrorism officer, both Esam Ghazzawi and his son-in-law Abdulaziz A. Al-Hijji had been on a terror watch list at the FBI predating 9/11. An unnamed U.S. agency tracking terror funds, (ICE, the Bureau of Immigration Customs Enforcement) had also taken an interest in them. “464 was Ghazzawi’s number,” the officer said.
TAMPA TRIBUNE…Saudi Rescue…The Phantom Flight From Florida. The hastily arranged flight out of Raytheon Airport Services, a private hangar on the outskirts of Tampa International Airport, was anything but ordinary. It lifted off the tarmac at a time when every private plane in the nation was grounded due to safety concerns after the Sept. 11 attacks. For private investigators Dan Grossi and Manuel Perez, the bodyguards on the Lear, it was a trip they can’t forget. Grossi said Tampa police intelligence detectives called him about 11 a.m. Sept. 13, needing help with a special situation: They had been watching three young Saudi men at least one a student at the University of Tampa named Prince Sultan bin Fahd bin Salman bin Abdulaziz aka Fahad A. A. Al-Zeid, at their south Tampa apartment, and the trio was scared and wanted to go home. Tampa police records list Saudi prince Sultan bin Fahd as the one requesting the security detail.
FBI agent Thomas Baugher told me at one of our meetings in Sarasota at the SRQ Police Department Intel Unit ”THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES IN TERRORISM. The FBI never disclosed the existence of its 2002 Sarasota investigation to either Congress’s Joint Inquiry into the terror attacks or the subsequent 9/11 Commission, ex-Sen. Graham has said. 9/11 Hijack Pilots Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi and Ziad Jarrah’s Support Network In Sarasota Fl Includes Esam Ghazzawi, Abdulaziz al-Hijji and Muneer Arafat. From March of 2002 up to April of 2005 I was involved with and initiated parts off a multi Law Enforcement Agency investigation of an assortment of Muslim men of Saudi, Moroccan and Palestinian background that appeared to be a support network for the 9/11 hijackers in Sarasota Fl. This time period appears to the same time period that the Miami Herald Media Co. has joined the Herald-Tribune Media Group in urging a federal judge to make the FBI disclose details of its long-running Sarasota 9/11 investigation.
