PIX11 New York Updated on A&E ‘The Killing Season’ Investigation: Stunning Development Revealed After Last Show Aired, ‘Peaches’ is Jane Doe #3. ‘Peaches’, Sweet Georgia Peach, is she from Atlanta? Investigation into Gilgo Beach murders continue after documentary ‘The Killing Season’ released. It’s been six years since the first victim was found and yet there is no trace of the Long Island serial killer, responsible for killing and dumping prostitutes along Ocean Parkway. Rachel Mills and Josh Zeman, the creators of “The Killing Season” on A&E are working to crack the case. The killing season is raw and real, it takes a deep look into a case that has stumped even seasoned investigators. Their investigation, which involves citizen crime fighters on the website websleuths.com, leads them to New Jersey, Florida and New Mexico, hunting for clues on the suspect.
The investigation was for a time stalled by former Suffolk County police chief James Burke, who blocked an FBI probe into the Gilgo Beach murders. On Thursday, an escort came forward alleging she had sex with Burke during a “wild party” near where the bodies were found. A PIX11 investigation found, when Burke was a police sergeant in the 1990’s, he was investigated by internal affairs for his relationship with a prostitute. Days after the show’s last episode, the creators received a tip that has proven to be stunning new development in the search for the killer. An unidentified murder victim nicknamed “Peaches,” whose torso was found in Rockville Center, 19 years ago is believed to be Jane Doe #3 the mother of a toddlers body also found along Ocean Parkway.
UPDATE: A&E The Killing Season Gilgo Beach Murders: Lawyer says link between ex-NY police chief Burke and unsolved murders on Long Island NY. Josh Zeman and Rachel Mills were right all along with their 8 parts series “The Killing Season” on serial killers. The series explores how police agencies routinely fail to share information with one another, as evident by the notoriously under-utilized Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP), an FBI database designed to help catch America’s most violent offenders. Or, more specifically to the case at hand, how disgraced Suffolk Police Chief James Burke, who was recently sentenced to federal prison for corruption, refused to let the FBI help solve the Gilgo case. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/12/15/lawyer-claims-link-between-ex-ny-police-chief-and-unsolved-long-island-murders.html
Burke, who reportedly blocked the FBI from investigating key evidence in the murders, is currently serving time in federal prison in a separate case. Burke was sentenced to 46 months for beating up a man who stole sex toys and other items from his car and then later orchestrating a cover-up. Burke has not been named a suspect or person of interest in the Long Island serial murders. “The allegations against my client don’t warrant a comment,” Burke’s attorney, John Meringolo, told FoxNews.com Thursday. On Thursday, “Leanne,” told reporters she met Burke at a party in Oak Beach in June 2011. According to the woman, Burke paid her $400 for “rough sex” at the home, a few miles from where the murdered prostitutes were found. The woman claims Burke hired her again for sex two months later.
According to an affidavit, the woman claims she observed Burke “roughly pull a young woman by her hair to the ground” at the party, which included cocaine. She said in sworn testimony that Burke was introduced to her as a “a high police official.” In August 2011, the woman said she met Burke for sex a second time in a bathroom at an undisclosed location. “He insisted upon oral sex, which was given,” the affidavit states. She described Burke as “aggressive” to reporters and said he called her a “whore” before throwing $300 or $400 in cash at her. “I was a little dehumanized,” she said.
A law enforcement source with knowledge of the Long Island serial killer investigation told FoxNews.com last month that Burke was being eyed as a person of interest in the murders, though the FBI declined to comment on the case. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said federal investigators were questioning Burke’s former girlfriends after learning he had a “violent past.” This is not the first time Burke — once Suffolk County’s top cop — has been linked to prostitution. A 1995 internal affairs report by the Suffolk County Police Department shows Burke — then a sergeant — had a months-long relationship with a convicted prostitute and drug dealer named Lowrita Rickenbacker, according to Newsday, which obtained a copy of the report.
Does this unsub serial killer live and have his base of operations in Queens or west Long Island NY as seen inside the white circle on the map above? Long Island Serial Killer had his ‘Chop Shop’ somewhere in or around Queens NY or west Long Island and dumped his dismembered victims bodies north, south and east of Long Island, often in a large burlap bag.
It is clear that the area in and around Gilgo Beach has been used to discard human remains for some period of time,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. In December 2010, a police officer and his dog on a routine training exercise discovered the first body – “the skeletal remains of a woman in a nearly disintegrated burlap sack” Five days later, the search for more bodies began in Nassau County. Local media reported that an additional set of partial human remains was found, as well as a separate skull, bringing the potential total number of victims found since December to ten. Also on September 20, police revealed that the second set of remains found in Nassau County on April 11, 2011, matched two legs that were found in a garbage bag that had washed up on Fire Island in 1996. On May 9, 2011, it was reported that the remains of a skull, a pair of hands, and a forearm found on March 29 at Gilgo belonged to Taylor. “Jane Doe No. 6”: A human head, right foot, and hands, found on April 4, were determined to have belonged to an unidentified victim, the rest of whose body was found on November 19, 2000.
