A&E’s ‘The Killing Season’ miniseries took some three years to put together, and it expands the topic beyond LISK and Gilgo Beach to the general issue of sex workers being the target of serial killers throughout the United States—the filmmakers go to Atlantic City, Daytona Beach and other communities where similar crimes have occurred. The problem has grown as online listings have become a popular way for “escorts” to find clients. Many times, they are men and women “living off the grid,” Mr. Kolker noted, and thus often not immediately missed, nor easily identified; in fact, the remains of three women, a man and a baby found along Ocean Parkway are still unidentified five years after they were discovered. see http://www.27east.com/news/article.cfm/East-End/500940/New-A
A&E’s ‘The Killing Season” Part 6 Delves Into Murders Along I-4 in Florida Where FBI Claims Ideal Profession For a Serial Killer Is a Long-Haul Trucker. FBI REPORT: If there is such a thing as an ideal profession for a serial killer, it may well be as a long-haul truck driver. FBI Crime Analyst Christie Palazzolo is quick to point out that long-haul trucking is an honorable profession and that the overwhelming majority of drivers are not murderers—but it does happen, and the pattern is unmistakable. More than a decade ago, analysts for the FBI’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP)—the only national database of serial crimes—began to see a marked increase in the number of bodies recovered along the side of the road.
