My Experience As a Limo Driver in VP Candidate Mike Pence’s Motorcade in Sarasota Fl During Tropical Storm Hermine. I got a driving gig last week for Republican Vice Presidential candidate and Indiana Governor Mike Pence who held a town hall meeting Wednesday August 31st, 2016 in Sarasota Florida. The event was held at the Hyatt Regency, 1000 Blvd. of the Arts.
I was driving one of the three staff vehicles in the motorcade, it was a pick up of Mr Pence at SRQ airport after his luncheon with Florida Attorney Pam Bondi in St Pete and return to Sarasota for the town hall meeting.
Scenes from the road, I was driving the Staff Limo 1 in the Mike Pence VP Candidate motorcade in Sarasota Fl, what a mess, all during a Tropical Storm with 9 inches of water on the ground see photos.
Let me tell you it is was no treat to be driving a 6,000 lb monster 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV in the Pence motorcade during a torrential rain storm at 40 mph right on the tail of two Sarasota Sheriff Dept Motorcycle cops with the constant concern that one of their bikes might slide out and lose traction with the road during the storm and I would be right on top of them, yikes!
As we were returning to SRQ airport there was an incident when one of the lead Limo’s lost power after plowing through almost knee deep water on the North Trail Rte41 in Sarasota Fl.
Power was quickly returned to one of the lead Limo’s and we continued on to SRQ airport.
All safely back on board and on to Phoenix for Mr. Pence.
