The last time anyone in 19-year-old Alivia Christine Kail‘s family in Mt. Washington saw her, she stopped at her brother’s home in West Mifflin on March 5, 2011, to gather some clothes. Alivia Kail told him she planned to move to Florida with her boyfriend, Alexander Lorenzi, of Pittsburgh’s Esplen neighborhood. When Lorenzi reappeared in Pittsburgh 0n March 16th 2011 without Alivia and gave conflicting accounts as to her whereabouts, the family’s worry deepened. Alexander Lorenzi had told family and police that Alivia Kail decided to stay in Florida. Alexander Lorenzi is known to travel out of state frequently and use commercial air lines as well as rental cars in the Naples and Miami Fl area.
Meanwhile, Alivia Kail’s closest friend and former roommate, Nicole, appealed to 21-year-old Lorenzi who was Kail’s boyfriend. “I just want him to tell us where she’s at,” she said. “We just want Alivia back and he’s the guy who holds the key – he’s the guy who has the answers and he’s not telling us anything.” Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Det. Ken Scanlon of the Allegheny County Police Department at 412-473-1261.
PITTSBURGH —Alivia Kail has been missing for nearly 5 1/2 years, but the young Mount Washington woman may still be alive and caught up in an out-of-state human trafficking ring against her will. Allegheny County Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt said that’s one of several possible explanations for what happened to Kail, whose case remains under investigation. “We’re still looking at any financial trail, any kind of a paper trail or any sightings, but it’s very possible that Alivia’s alive in some other part of the country, or the world for that matter, being used in this manner,” said Moffatt. “You can rest assured we have not given up on Alivia Kail, be she deceased or alive.” The theory surfaced Tuesday at Heinz Field, where the FBI was hosting a conference to raise awareness and educate the Pittsburgh area about the subject of human trafficking. County police were also involved in the event.
“They take women, get them into this sex trade and move them around the country, and that’s why, in some instances, it’s hard to trace them,” said Moffatt. Kail’s mother, Christine Didiano, said it will be “a really great day for a lot of people” if her daughter is found alive, but she also admitted it won’t be easy. “Just trying to figure out how I get her back, and if that is the case, and I do get her back, how do I piece her back together? Because every day, when I do think of that, I just can’t even imagine the torture that she would be going through,” said Didiano. Kail was 19 when she was reported missing in March 2011 by her brother, who told police that she was last seen at his West Mifflin home with her boyfriend Alexander Lorenzi. Kail’s brother said she told him that she was going to Florida with her boyfriend. In August 2011, while then-Pittsburgh Police Officer Michael Johns was being investigated and convicted over prostitution allegations, police said they found a keychain with Alivia Kail’s name and a phone number inside a vehicle that Johns allegedly rented to transport prostitutes around.
Alivia Kail’s boyfriend Alexander Lorenzi had made multiple trips to Southwest Florida, the Naples, FL and Miami, Fl, areas in the weeks before his arrest on March 30th, 2011 on charges unrelated to Alivia’s disappearance, why was Alexander Lorenzi traveling to Naples Fl.
