Robert Earl Williams, DOB 12/29/1975, was living in the 2000 block of Coconut Ave near 22nd Street (Newtown) Sarasota Fl at the time of the rapes, he fits the profile of a serial rapist, his job as a long haul trucker gives rise to the theory that this man has committed rapes in other states that he has not been charged with. Williams was known to carry a .380 semi auto handgun which he used to coerce one female to get into the back of his truck. Robert Earl Williams, 40, a long haul trucker, failed to show up in court March 9 for the final day of his trial in Manatee County for a 2012 sexual battery charge, but a jury nonetheless convicted him of a lesser charge and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. Early Wednesday, April 13th, 2016, the U.S. Marshals Service found Williams at a hotel in Omaha, Neb., and arrested him, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Williams is being held without bond at a jail in Omaha and will be transported back to Manatee County jail to be sentenced for the sexual battery conviction. He is facing a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Robert Earl Williams is still set to stand trial for a 2012 charge of sexual battery with a firearm. If convicted as charged, Williams would face life in prison. Williams also has another pending sexual battery with a firearm case involving a female victim, 24. He could face a minimum of 25 years up to life in prison. Williams was also a suspect in a 2010 sexual battery case, but the victim died and he was never charged. “We are thankful to the U.S. marshals for their work in finding this dangerous fugitive, thankful that Williams will not be about to evade the justice he deserves and thankful that no other women will be subject to his victimization,” said Assistant State Attorney Brian Chambers, who prosecuted Williams.
