Fake Negative Reviews on YELP in Sarasota Fl Hurt Local Business’s as YELP Ignores Requests For HELP But Takes Down Bad Stuff for a Price, YELP is a Scam. Beware of Yelp! suppressing good reviews and depriving businesses from positive reviews being shown to the general public. The motive behind this practice appears to be financial (for YELP), see article below. It’s a disservice to the both the business who are victims of Yelp!’s practice and to consumers seeking honest real reviews from members of the public.

EAST BAY EXPRESS: The phone calls came almost daily. It started to get creepy. “Hi, this is Mike from Yelp,” the voice would say. “You’ve had three hundred visitors to your site this month. You’ve had a really good response. But you have a few bad ones at the top. I could do something about those.” This wasn’t your average sales pitch. At least, not the kind that John, an East Bay restaurateur, was used to. He was familiar with Yelp.com, the popular San Francisco-based web site in which any person can write a review about nearly any business. John’s restaurant has more than one hundred reviews, and averages a healthy 3.5-star rating. But when John asked Mike what he could do about his bad reviews, he recalls the sales rep responding: ““We can move them. Well, for $299 a month.” John couldn’t believe what the guy was offering. I’ve reviewed two businesses (with which I have no relationship other than as a customer) and yelp suppressed both reviews. Their filters don’t work. I think the fact that I write full, grammatical sentences may have been the problem. Unfortunately, I can’t but notice a lot of shady activity on Yelp! I have never been personally affected, but I recently heard a story from an associate about the damage a fake review was doing to his business. After going to his page, sure enough, the review account bashes his business and three others in the area. Evidently the “basher” was a competitor in the same area. In summary, it sounded like a very ugly situation.

One jack wagon female Yelper from Sarasota Fl and Washington D.C. using the name “Wendy V” appears to cross the line and slanders established businesses, she has mostly negative reviews out of 41 reviews about restaurants and business’s in Sarasota like Paris Bistrot Lakewood Ranch and the Ritz-Carlton in Washington D.C. it’s Starbucks and Flemings Steak House and in Boston MA and it’s Papa Razzi all based on supposed poor service and wait staff not showing proper respect to her, WTF does YELP pay Wendy V? I went to my friend’s page and reported the account’s post, as well as it’s others.  Unfortunately, any and all good reviews for his business were “filtered”. I figured this was the doing of the “basher” flagging new reviews as well (despicable). At any rate, I know the reviewer’s account was false. I reported their posts.

UPDATE January 27th, 2016…Judge Rules Yelp critics who post negative reviews must be identified court rules in online landscape altering decision. In a decision that could reshape the rules for online consumer reviews, a Virginia court has ruled that the popular website Yelp must turn over the names of seven reviewers who anonymously criticized a prominent local carpet cleaning business. The case revolves around negative feedback against Virginia-based Hadeed Carpet Cleaning. The owner, Joe Hadeed, said the users leaving bad reviews were not real customers of the cleaning service — something that would violate Yelp’s terms of service. His attorneys issued a subpoena demanding the names of seven anonymous reviewers, and a judge in Alexandria ruled that Yelp had to comply.
