A Orange Park Florida man described as an “online troll” who posted as an ISIS supporter living in Australia was arrested Thursday and accused of trying to plan a bomb attack on a Sept. 11 memorial event in Kansas City this weekend. The affidavit says that Goldberg posed as an ISIS supporter living in Perth, Australia who used social media handles like “@AusSecret” “@AusWitness” and “Australi Witness.”
The affidavit says that when he was arrested, Goldberg (who is Jewish) admitted to posting a Twitter message urging followers to attack the Pamela Geller (who is Jewish) Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest in Garland, Texas, Pamela Geller is the third of four sisters born to the Jewish family of Reuben and Lillian Geller. Two Muslim men were killed by security on May 3 when they attempted to attack the event. According to the affidavit, an Australian informant asked an online user believed to be Goldberg “Are you not all at concerned by the way that some of these jihardi [sic] nutcases might actually kill someone at your behest?” Goldberg allegedly replied, “These guys are [expletive] keyboard warriors.”
US man accused of 9/11 memorial bomb plot in Kansas City is a 20-year-old whose online identity was ‘Australi Witness’ – an ISIS agent apparently living in Perth – has been arrested at his parents’ place in Orange Park Florida over plotting a bomb attack at a 9/11 memorial event. A young Jewish American man has been charged with pretending to be an Australian-based Islamic State jihadist after a FBI joint investigation with the Australian Federal Police based on information provided by Fairfax Media. Joshua Ryne Goldberg, a 20-year old living at his parents’ house in US state of Florida, is accused of posing online as “Australi Witness,” an IS supporter who publicly called for a series of attacks against individuals and events in western countries. In recent days Australi Witness has claimed online that he is working with other jihadists to plan attacks in Australia and the United States. He distributed pictures of a bomb that he was working on with “2 lbs of explosives inside”.
Between the months of July and September 2015, Goldberg is accused of exchanging messages with the CHS through a direct message app. Over time, the document says, the informant worked to gain the trust of Goldberg, who investigators say was using the profile name “Aus Witness” on the app. AusWitness asked where the informant was located, to which the informant replied ‘the Midwest.’ Click here for several key pages from the criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The document describes alleged conversations between the informant and the suspect.
