The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman after she committed two burglaries and crashed a stolen vehicle in Sarasota on Tuesday afternoon. Around 1:00 p.m., Tactical Unit deputies began surveillance in the 2800 block of River Pines Way Sarasota Fl after noticing a male and female behaving suspiciously in the area. As a deputy approached the male, the female ran inside a residence and fled moments later carrying several electronics.
Just as deputies in the area were notified of the suspicious female’s description, dispatch received a call from a nearby daycare in the 4800 block of Swift Road where a burglary had just occurred, see map CLICK HERE, this area is called Ridge Wood Heights which is right next to South Gate Ridge which also has been the subject of daytime burglaries sometimes also on Tuesdays which is trash pick-up day with a lot of WM trucks causing a lot of noise in the area (cover for break-in).
FAST LIFE: Detectives determined that the suspect, 18-year-old Ryann Mills, entered the business, stole a woman’s car keys and fled in her Hyundai Elantra. Mills traveled north on Tamiami Trail, striking several vehicles and over-turning the stolen car at the intersection of Mill Terrace, just south of Bee Ridge Road. During the investigation, deputies discovered Mills’ shoes at the burglarized residence and one of the stolen electronics from the home, an Xbox game controller, inside the vehicle. Mills was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and refused to cooperate with deputies.
Ryann Mills, DOB 10/30/96, of 2058 Old Trenton Lane, Sarasota, is charged with two counts of Occupied Burglary, Grand Theft of a Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Valid License, four counts of DUI with Property Damage, four counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident and nine counts of Refusing to Sign a Criminal Citation. She is currently in custody at the Sarasota County Jail on $20,180 bond.
