ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military said on Saturday that soldiers killed al-Qaida’s chief of global operations during a raid in the country’s lawless tribal region, a man indicted in the US over a plot to bomb New York’s subway system. Adnan Shukrijumah was killed, along with two other suspected militants, in Pakistan’s South Waziristan tribal area early Saturday, the military said. “The al-Qaida leader, who was killed by the Pakistan army in a successful operation, is the same person who had been indicted in the United Stated,” said a senior Pakistani army officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to talk to journalists.
Shukrijumah, 39, held a position that once was Sept 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s. The FBI lists the Saudi as a “most wanted” terrorist and had offered up to a $5 million reward for his capture. Federal prosecutors in the US allege Shukrijumah had recruited the three men in 2008 to receive training in the lawless tribal region of Pakistan for the attack. The New York indictment links him to the Manhattan plot and a similar never-executed scheme to attack British subways.
Sarasota/Tampa FBI Continues to Stonewall Giving Up Info On Sarasota Saudi Family Prior to 9/11 But FDLE Report Tells of Al-Qaeda Boss Adnan El-Shukrijumah Playing Soccer at Sarasota Mosque, WTH? Sarasota Saudi Family Prior to 9/11/2001: FBI agents who searched the Prestancia gatehouse in Sarasota found evidence in logbooks and snapshots of license plates that vehicles used by the 9/11 hijackers, including ringleader Mohamed Atta, had visited the Abdulaziz al-Hijji home. A law enforcement source said an analysis of phone calls to and from the home also found links to Mohamed Atta and former Broward County resident Adnan el-Shukrijumah, a fugitive and al-Qaeda leader with a $5 million bounty on his head. Documents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated that a now imprisoned terrorist figure, Wissam Hammoud, told the FBI in 2004 that Abdulazizal-Hijji was an acolyte of Osama bin Laden who prior to 9/11 had introduced him to Al-Qaeda leader Adnanel-Shukrijumah at a soccer game at the Sarasota mosque, Islamic Society of Sarasota Bradenton 4350 N. Lockwood Ridge Rd where Muneer Arafat was the Imam. The FBI never disclosed the existence of its 2002 Sarasota investigation to either Congress’s Joint Inquiry into the terror attacks or the subsequent 9/11 Commission, ex-Sen. Graham has said.
