UPDATED January 14th, 2015

New York Times, August 8th, 2010….While a high-profile battle rages over a mosque near ground zero in Manhattan, heated confrontations have also broken out in communities across the country where mosques are proposed for far less hallowed locations.
In Murfreesboro, Tenn., Republican candidates have denounced plans for a large Muslim center proposed near a subdivision, and hundreds of protesters have turned out for a march and a county meeting.
In late June, in Temecula, Calif., members of a local Tea Party group took dogs and picket signs to Friday prayers at a mosque that is seeking to build a new worship center on a vacant lot nearby. At one time, neighbors who did not want mosques in their backyards said their concerns were over traffic, parking and noise — the same reasons they might object to a church or a synagogue. But now the gloves are off.
In all of the recent conflicts, opponents have said their problem is Islam itself. They quote passages from the Koran and argue that even the most Americanized Muslim secretly wants to replace the Constitution with Islamic Shariah law.
In Sarasota Fl, the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton (ISSB) Mosque is nearing completion looking some what like the Dome of the Rock, but prior links to terrorism are still fresh in the minds of locals.

Muneer Arafat was the Imam at the Islamic Society of Sarasota and Bradenton (ISSB) Mosque from early 2000 to the end of 2003.  Imam Muneer Arafat quotes “I’m not opposed to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s goal of destroying Israel and replacing it with an Islamic state”. “Muslims need to stay unified, and they should support the Palestinian uprising known as the intifada”.

TAMPA – The trial of Sami Al-Arian and his three co-defendants got lively when Muneer Arafat took the stand and offered a pithy sound bite for why he broke from Al-Arian and his supporters in 1988. “They are sending their kids to Duke University and Yale University from Tampa while they are sending someone else’s kids to do a suicide bombing.”

Sarasota Imam Muneer Arafat says convicted terrorist Sami Al-Arian tried to recruit him into a faction of Palestinian Islamic Jihad in 1988 but he was already a PIJ terror member with the Tamimi faction.  Muneer Arafat also lied about being a US citizen, was the roomate of an al-Qaeda terrorist, Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa, solicitated funds for terror organizations and worked for the FBI as a paid confidential informant on a international stolen car scam, a very busy boy.

Muneer Arafat said he had spent months and months talking to a Sarasota suspect in another case (stolen car scam shipped to Middle East) at the request of the FBI, which collected much of the evidence in the Al-Arian case, Muneer Arafat was paid $35,000 by the FBI.

Federal Bureau of Prisons results for Sarasota Imam Muneer K. Arafat, prisoner number 28523-044, not currently in custody, arrest date 11/27/02 Sarasota Fl (see his photo above), “Arafat said he once was deported for overstaying his visa but never was charged with any crime for lying on the voting application.” he said he twice registered to vote in St. Louis, once under his real name and once under a false name. He said he did not vote. So how did he get back into the USA ?

Ziyad Khaleel, also known as Khalil Ziyad, Ziyad Sadaqa, and Ziyad Abdulrahman, was a Palestinian-American al-Qaeda member, based in the United States, primarily in Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Missouri. He had been identified as a “procurement agent” for Osama bin Laden, arranging the purchase and delivery of “computers, satellite telephones, and covert surveillance equipment” for the leadership of al-Qaeda,as well as administering a number of radical Islamic websites as webmaster, including the website of the terrorist group Hamas.  The FBI investigated Anwar al-Awlaki, later linked to three of the 9/11 hijackers, the Fort Hood shooter, and the Christmas Day 2009 bomber, beginning in June 1999 through March 2000, after it learned he had been contacted by Ziyad Khaleel.

IARA employee Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa and roommate of Sarasota Imam Muneer Arafat is verified as a procurement agent of Osama Bin Laden in the released IARA Indictment (1/16/2008), see exert; On or about November 6, 2001, a person acting on behalf of the defendant IARA, engaged in a television interview via satellite transmission from Columbia, Missouri, to Atlanta, Georgia, wherein he falsely and publicly claimed that Ziyad Khaleel, a then publicly identified associate and procurement agent of Osama Bin Laden, had never been an employee of the defendant IARA, when in fact, as the defendants then and there well knew and believed, he had been. Ziyad Khaleel was/is a terrorist and he was communicating with agents of Osama Bin Laden from at least 1996 in Columbia MO and purchased communication equipment, (satellite phone) for Osama bin Laden which was used to co-ordinate the two 1998 US Embassy bombings in Africa, hundreds were killed. During this time period 1996 to 1998, future Sarasota Imam (in 2000) Muneer Arafat was in the same apartment were phone calls, e-mails and faxes are coming in from agents of Osama bin Laden planning mass bombings in Africa. …. see St Louis Dispatch article about Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa and roommate of Sarasota Imam Muneer Arafat, above.

Sami Al Arian, along with seven others, was indicted in February 2003, on racketeering charges for allegedly financing and supporting homicide bombers in Israel. The Florida Islamic Academy is explicitly named in the indictment: The Islamic Academy of Florida, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “IAF”) was a tax exempt Florida corporation established on August 24, 1992. SAMI AMIN AL-ARIAN was the Director of IAF from its inception through at least June, 2002. SAMEEH HAMMOUDEH was also employed by the IAF and served as its Treasurer. IAF was located at 5910 East 130th Avenue, Tampa, Florida it was renamed the American Youth Academy in 2004.

The original incorporaters of the American Youth Academy at 5905 E 130TH AVE in 2004 were Ibrahim Khader, Nabil Rifaie and Mohammed B. Bouarfa who was replaced with Ayman Barakat in 2005.  Mohammed B. Bouarfa also ran CASABLANCA RESTAURANT EQUIPMENT for a short period of time in 2004.

AYA Director Mohammed Bouarfa Bouarfa, age 56, is from Morocco, he was replaced at the American Youth Academy with Ayman Barakat in 2004 after a story came out in the BBC News about Mohcine Bouarfa, age 34, born in Meknes Morocco, who was arrested on terrorism charges in Morocco, no known direct link has been established between the two men as of yet..

Crackdown Against Islamist Opposition in Morocco Intensifies, Moroccan security forces intensified operations last week against al-Adl wa al-Ihsane (Justice and Spirituality Association—JSA), the country’s largest opposition group, arresting scores more of its members in the towns of Bouarfa, Oujda and Nador in northeast Morocco.  Fathallah Arslane, Al Adl’s spokesman, told Reuters that 45 group activists were arrested in the town of Bouarfa in northeast Morocco.

January 27 2004, Morocco holds two ‘most wanted’. Two top terror suspects have been arrested during a raid on an Islamic militant cell, say Morocco’s police.  A suspect and a policeman died when police conducted an operation near the town of Meknes which resulted in the arrest of 35 people. The Moroccan authorities have been on the hunt for Islamic fundamentalists since five bomb blasts killed 45 people last May in Casablanca.  The raid is reported to have uncovered explosives and forgery equipment. Among those arrested were Mohcine Bouarfa age 34, and Tawfiq Hanouichi who followed Abdelwahab Raba of Addaâwa wal Jihad
Mohcine Bouarfa was born on 11/01/1976 in Meknes, he is single, broker by profession, residing at 38, No. 27, Hay Atlas, owner of CIN No. D654536.  Both Bouarfa and Hanouichi have been at the top of Morocco’s most wanted list, suspected of involvement in the Casablanca bombings.  Mohcine Bouarfa had become radicalized to Islam while serving a 5 year prison term.

July 06, 2005, LA TIMES..2 Sentenced to Death in Morocco, Two men arrested in a sweep aimed at dismantling militant Islamic networks after suicide bombings in Casablanca have been sentenced to death, judicial officials said Tuesday.  The Moroccan court that condemned Taoufik Hanouichi and Mohcine Bouarfa also jailed dozens of others in the trial of 46 suspected militants, but it is unlikely that Taoufik Hanouichi and Mohcine Bouarfa will be put to death.

March 12, 2010 Taoufik Hanouichi and Mohcine Bouarfa Prison Break Season II version Jihadi: The details of a botched escape, at least four who are former jihadis but still have blood on their hands: Tawfik El Hanouichi Abdelmalek Bouzekran Youssef Addad and Mohcine Bouarfa, wanted since 2003, following the terrorist attacks of 16 May for having committed the murders, the former “emirs of blood” will be captured in 2006, thanks to a heavy-handed police intervention when bullets were fired.

Regardless of Sami Al-Arian’s continued separation from the Islamic Community of Tampa, Inc (ICT) Mosque and the American Youth Academy (AYA) Muslim school, the school and mosque are still very much connected to one another beyond their physical vicinity. On different internet forums, AYA uses the address of ICT in place of its own.

The AYA contact on these forums is Ibrahim Khader, a former director of ICT. According to courtroom documents, in December of 1999, Khader gave $1900 to PIJ operative Sameeh Hammoudeh, who told Khader the money was going to “orphans” (i.e. families of suicide bombers).  In February of 2000, Ibrahim Khader, along with Sami Al-Arian, incorporated Baraka Group, L.L.C. the organization was dissolved in September of 2001, 17 days after the attacks.
One of the directors of AYA is Ayman Nazie Barakat, a used car dealer (Vulcan Auto Imports), whose vehicle inventory has suspiciously made its way to far away places such as the Port of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Showing that support for the PIJ leader is still strong in the community, Barakat signed a petition asking for Al-Arian’s release.

FROM THEIR WEBSITE…..Vulcan Auto Imports, Inc. is one of the leading used car exporters in Florida, (SENDDING CARS TO THE MIDDLE EAST). Specializing in Mercury Grand Marquis, Ford Crown Victoria, GMC Yukon, Lexus, and many more.

The Islamic Academy of Florida (IAF) was an elementary/secondary private school for Muslims based in the Temple Terrace suburb of Tampa Bay. IAF was one of Florida’s major recipients of taxpayer-funded vouchers. (The voucher program is a statewide government initiative that seeks to improve the education of underprivileged students in underachieving schools.) As of July 2003, IAF had received more than $350,000 in vouchers, the majority of which came from Florida PRIDE, an organization that funds scholarships.

That month, however, IAF was suddenly suspended from receiving any more of these vouchers because of a 50-count indictment charging that the school was actively supporting the terrorist organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). According to the indictment, IAF had helped “to raise funds and provide support for the PIJ and their operatives in the Middle East, in order to assist its engagement in, and promotion of, violent attacks designed to thwart the Middle East Peace Process.”

IAF’s former Chairman, Sami Al-Arian, was the leader of the enterprise. The school’s former Treasurer, Sameeh Hammoudeh, was using IAF as a fundraising base for Palestinian Islamic Jihad. One of IAF’s former teachers was the high-level PIJ operative Ramadan Shallah, who was also a founding member — along with Sami Al-Arian, Mazen al Najjar, and Khalil Shikaki — of the World Islam Study Enterprise. And one of IAF’s former Directors was the aforementioned Mazen al Najjar, who eventually would be deported from the United States because of his ties to PIJ.

After their vouchers were cut off in July 2003, IAF’s administrators devised a way to regenerate those lost funds. Specifically, the school began doing business under a different name — the American Youth Academy which was first incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of Florida shortly after the voucher payments to IAF had been discontinued. Under its new name, the American Youth Academy was soon receiving more taxpayer-funded vouchers than any other school in the Tampa Bay area. In 2005 alone, Florida taxpayers furnished AYA with $332,500 for its elementary/secondary program, and $2,500 per child for its Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program.
