CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – It appears Charlotte man Samir Khan is a rising star in the world’s most dangerous terrorist organizationCongresswoman Sue Myrick says the former Central Piedmont Community College student has risen to number two in Al Qaeda’s propaganda war on the West and the United States.

As we’ve reported, Khan is now allegedly running al-Qaeda’s new online magazine out of Yemen.  It’s all in English.  Myrick says that’s extremely scary because it’s a blatant attempt to recruit impressionable young American kids.

WBTV started looking into Samir Khan back in 2008.  Anchor Molly Grantham talked with him as he walked into work one day.  At that time, he denied recruiting for al-Qaeda or for terrorism.  How did he get to Yemen?  Wouldn’t he be on a “no-fly” list?  We’ve posed those questions two nights in the row.

“If he is the number two guy, how did federal intelligence let him get away?”, Grantham asked Myrick.  “How did he move from Charlotte… hop a plane… go to Yemen, when I can find him in a parking lot?”  “I know Molly, it’s crazy,” Myrick said.  “These are the same questions I’m asking right now.”

Myrick also says this issue needs to be on everyone’s radars.  She calls it a “very serious and scary issue.”  Click the video above to see the full report.
