On a recent trip to the Southern Tier area of Binghamton New York, in Broome County, it appears that the city is in total collapse, downtown commercial buildings are falling into adjacent buildings and the center of the city, Court St and Chenango St is blocked off with a 6′ chain link fence so that falling facades won’t kill passing motorists, see photo above.
Court St Binghamton NY had been the main location for business, resturants, banks and professional offices for many, many years, it is now a collection of empty buildings in various forms of decay with broken windows, see photo above.
The multi-tier State St parking ramp in Binghamton where we could parked our BMW for free (part of the nearby hotel’s deal) was in such bad condition that we decided to park on the street and take our chances with all the drunks coming out of the roudy State St bars (the only cash business in town), see photo above, note rust on steel supports and decayed-cracked concrete floors.
CHILD RAPISTS ; 26 Percent Hike In the Number Of registered Sex Offenders in Broome County New York, Binghamton Leads the Pack : BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — In just a year, Broome County has seen a 26 percent hike in the number of registered sex offenders in the county, a statistic many find startling. “It goes to show that it’s a real sick world out there,” said Broome County resident George Wilson Sr.
“It doesn’t make me very safe,” added Edward Moorhead. According to the Broome County Sheriff’s office, there were 426 registered offenders in Broome County in 2009, since then, that number has grown to more than 530 today. “The number can fluctuate any given day, any given month. It has increased right now,” explained Broome County Sheriff’s detective Sgt. Jason Ellis.

Richard Bucci, the mayor (in 2005), said: “We want these people out of town. They are not welcome. Criminals registered under “Megan’s Law”, which obliges sex offenders to record their whereabouts, may not even pass through the protected areas. The law was named after seven-year-old Megan Kanka, who was raped and murdered by a twice-convicted sex offender in 1994.
At the Dixie 2000 Hotel, 106 HENRY STREET Binghamton NY, sex offender residents told The Sunday Telegraph that they were frightened and angry. The hotel has worked out its disciplined regime with police and parole officers. Alcohol and cigarettes are banned, guests must sign in and out, and the doors are locked at night. Mark Colwell, 45, at the Dixie Hotel, who served 15 years for raping two girls aged seven and 11, said: “I should have the right to start afresh. Just to survive, I’ll have to change my identity and go on the run.” (too freakin bad you dirtball).
