FOX EXCLUSIVE: Evidence Indicates Anwar al-Awlaki Key Player in 9/11 Plot, al-Awlaki Links to Ziyad Khaleel and Sarasota Imam Muneer Arafat Prior to 9/11

A year-long investigation by the Fox News’ specials unit has uncovered new and overwhelming evidence that the American cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, the first U.S. citizen on the CIA’s kill or capture list, was an overlooked key player in the 9/11 plot.  

 

“It was my feeling that they had to have a network,” Criminal PENTTBOM (FBI’s codename for the 9/11 case) investigator Jimmy Bush told Fox News in his first television interview. “There was a mosque and the imam of that mosque was Anwar al-Awlaki, which raised my suspicions.”

 

Fox News was told by multiple sources with first-hand knowledge of the 9/11 case — including the former head of the joint congressional inquiry Sen. Bob Graham — that the contact between Awlaki and hijackers Nawaf al-Hazmi and Khalid al-Mihdar and Hani Hanjour, three of the five hijackers who flew into the Pentagon, was not casual or coincidental but rather evidence of a purposeful relationship.

 

“There was a high probability that they (the hijackers) had shared with Awlaki what they were planning to do,” Graham told Fox News. “The assumption was that it was a close relationship, and that Awlaki may have been one of the few, if not only people that Hazmi and Mihdhar had shared with, what they were there for and what the plot of 9/11 was going to be.”

 

The FBI investigated Anwar al-Awlaki beginning in June 1999 through March 2000 for possible fundraising for Hamas, links to al-Qaeda, and a visit in early 2000 by a close associate of “the blind sheik” Omar Abdel Rahman (now in prison for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center attack).

 

The FBI’s interest was also triggered by the fact that  Anwar al-Awlaki had been contacted by a “procurement agent” for bin Laden, Ziyad Khaleel (aka Ziyad Sadaqa) roommate of Imam Muneer Arafat. But it was unable to unearth sufficient evidence for a criminal prosecution. 

 

The FBI conducted extensive investigations of al-Awlaki, and he was observed crossing state lines with prostitutes in the D.C. area. To arrest him, the FBI considered invoking the little-used Mann Act, a federal law that prohibits the inter-state transport of women for “immoral purposes.” 

 

But before investigators could detain him, al-Awlaki left for Yemen in March 2002.  Anwar al-Awlaki knew of the 9/11 plot in advance said Ray Fournier, a federal agent who has been tracking Awlaki as part of a joint terrorism task force. In 2009 Anwar al-Awlaki reportedly was promoted to the rank of regional commander within al-Qaeda in Yemen.

Al-Qaeda Operative Ziyad Khaleel (aka Ziyad Sadaqa) and Sarasota Imam Muneer Arafat were roommates in Columbia MO and in St. Louis prior to 2000, Ziyad Khaleel (aka Ziyad Sadaqa) went to Orlando Fl in 2000 and Imam Muneer Arafat shows up in Sarasota Fl in March 2000 just prior to Mohamed Atta and the other 9/11 hijackers, small freakin world, eh ?

Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa puchased the satellite phone and battery used by Osama bin-Laden for the 1998 US Embassy Bombings inTanzania and Kenya Africa, Ziyad Khaleel aka Ziyad Sadaqa also set up several websites for Hamas and other terrorist groups while in Orlando Fl.

From 1991 to 1994, while living in Denver CO, Ziyad Khaleel was vice president of the Denver Islamic Society.   Anwar al-Awlaki served as Imam of the Denver Islamic Society from 1992–96.  Al-Qaeda agents Ziyad Khaleel and Anwar al-Awlaki were both in the Denver area in 1992.

 

By late 1994 Ziyad Khaleel was residing in Detroit and his name and address were reflected in ledgers taken from the Al Kifah Refugee Center a financial and strategic arm of al-Qaeda in New York City.
