TODAY’S NEWSFLASH…Hizb ut-Tahrir (HTA) ”coming out” in the USA, private investigator Bill Warner exposed this group back in Oct. 2005 at the Islamic Center of Queens aka Masjid al-Fatima with Imam Iyad Hilal when $400,000 went missing.

  

Hizb ut-Tahrir (HTA) had been operating in Queens New York at the mosque Masjid al-Fatima aka Islamic Center of Queens since the early 1990’s up to early 2000 when the more radical group Al-Muhajiroun took over and produced such Islamic terrorists as Mohammed Junaid Babar, and Syed “Fahad” Hashmi, who was arrested at London’s Heathrow airport on June 6th 2006 suspected of assisting an Al Qaeda terrorist plot, all right under the noses of supposed investigative reporters in NYC.

Hizb ut-Tahrir America Enters Public Stage

Hizb ut-Tahrir America (HTA) has indicated that it has transitioned from its covert status to a public phase of operations by issuing an announcement, signed in its own name, that it will host a conference in July 2009 to support the establishment of a Caliphate. The promotional video can be viewed on YouTube. The event, titled “The Fall of Capitalism and Rise of Islam,” is scheduled for Sunday, July 19th, 2009, at the Aqsa School in Bridgeview, Illinois.

Hizb-ut-Tahrir’s Activities in the United States

Five years ago, most Western observers did not consider Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HT) much of a threat—its goal of overthrowing governments in order to replace them with a caliph who would implement Sharia law.  HTA’s foundation began with a “nucleus” of committed members. Chief among them were Palestinian-Jordanian Iyad Hilal, an Orange County, California-based grocer, who was most actively engaged in HTA’s development from the late 1980s to the beginning of 2000, and Mohammed Malkawi, a computer engineer based in the Chicago area (Spotlight on Terror, March 23, 2004). Both had been long-time members of HT in their home countries. Hilal and his associates initiated HT activities in New York and in Orange County simultaneously, while Malkawi and his associates established party roots in Wisconsin and Chicago.

I am glad to see that “others” have used the ground breaking investigative reports of private investigator Bill Warner  to finally open the eyes of the US public. The original emir of Hizb-ut-Tahir America (HTA), Iyad Hilal, is a US citizen of Palestinian-Jordanian origin, he was also the Imam at the Masjid Al-Fatima in Queens NY-(VIDEO). 

In August 2005 Stratfor stated that Hilal had been in the US for 20 years. He had been involved in HT since his youth. Hilal would travel between Orange County in California and New York’s Masjid al-Fatima (Aqeel Khan founder) from the 1980s onward while he was establishing the group. HT had offices in these locations between 1991 to 1995. Iyad Hilal was imam of a Mosque in New York, the Masjid al-Fatima in Queens NY, founded by Aqeel Khan who also acted as the president of the Mosque.

By 1995, the HT chapter at the Masjid al-Fatima New York lost members in rows over ideology and leadership. Stratfor states that by 2000 many members of the New York branch at the Masjid al-Fatima (Islamic Center of Queens) had defected to Omar Bakri’s more radical group Al Muhajiroun at the same Mosque.

BBC journalist Richard Watson stated in a recent report (video) that at the end of the 1990s, Omar Bakri Mohammed wanted to expand into the US at the Masjid al-Fatima in Queens NY. The information on what had happened in New York’s HT chapter was made more clear by private investigator Bill Warner.

  

In 2005 Private investigator and self-styled “cyber vigilante” Bill Warner, currently based in Sarasota, Florida  had taken BBC reporter Richard Watson to the Masjid al-Fatima on 37th Avenue, Woodside in Queens. Here, the BBC filmed Aqeel Khan (video), the founder and secretary of the Queens Islamic Center at the mosque, while Bill Warner interviewed him (see photo above). During the mid 1990s, the mosque had been infiltrated by radical members of Hizb ut-Tahrir, much as they had tried to take over the Croydon mosque in London.

In 2005 when Bill Warner took BBC journalist Richard Watson to the Masjid al-Fatima on 37th Avenue, Woodside, Queens NY which had been taken over by radicals from Hizb ut-Tahrir in the mid 1990s, Watson videotaped Bill Warner’s interview with imam Aqeel Khan, who spoke of the problems of radicals at the mosque.

Mr. Warner’s sleuthing managed to show that Junaid Babar, who was an Al Muhajiroun member from Queens, had attended the Woodside mosque, and here in 1999 had first met Sajil Shahid. Shahid had founded the Al Muhajiroun office in Lahore in Pakistan, which became a center for ferrying British jihadists (including the five men convicted of the Operation Crevice plot, and also Mohammed Sidique Khan, leader of London’s 7/7 bombers) from Lahore to the regions bordering with Afghanistan, where they met Taliban and Al Qaeda controllers.

Mr. Warner’s investigations also showed that a meeting took place at the Masjid al-Fatima mosque from June 2 to 4, 2000, with lectures given by Sajil Shahid. This three day convention was also attended by an individual called “Brother Fahad”, who is Syed “Fahad” Hashmi.

27-year old Hashmi was presented in United States Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday May 29,2007 and on the following day he was indicted at Manhattan Federal Court before United States District Judge Loretta Preska. He was indicted on three charges, with the main count involving conspiracy to contribute funds, goods or services to the terrorist group. If he is found guilty at his future trial, he could serve 50 years in jail.

Mark Mershon, assistant director-in-charge of the FBI’s New York office, said: “Syed Hashmi aided the enemy by providing military gear to al-Qaida.” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said: “This arrest reinforces the fact that a terrorist may have roots in Queens and still betray us.”  

 

 FOX NEWS…LOS ANGELES (AP) Wednesday, August 24, 2005 – The FBI has launched an inquiry into the activities of a grocery store owner, Iyad Hilal, who is allegedly the U.S. leader of a radical Islamic group banned in parts of Europe and the Middle East, authorities said. Iyad Hilal, an Islamic author and philosopher who owns an Orange County market (he was also the Imam at the Masjid al-Fatima in Queens NY), hasn’t drawn much attention to his writings or his role in the group, Hizb ut-Tahrir, which means Party of Liberation.

  

But since the July 7 bombings in London, British Prime Minister Tony Blair banned the group (HT) there… FBI Investigation into Iyad Hilal and HT began in 2005 and appears to be ongoing. Aqeel Khan the founder and president of the Masjid al-Fatima (VIDEO) said: “They (HT) had their own programs, which were not the directions of the mosque… There were five times (a day) prayer, but then they had their own meetings here and we – the general public – were not invited.” The Hizb ut-Tahrir members were officially ousted from the Queens mosque after $400,000 went missing from the masjid funds, but they continued to frequent the mosque. It appears to be at this mosque Masjid al-Fatima AKA Islamic Center of Queens, where radical Hizb members already worshipped, that Al Muhajiroun developed its first US presence.
